Random Weekend Thoughts

This weekend was one for the books. Friday, we beat Fox and are still undefeated. Saturday, I submitted my college applications to my top 3 colleges (Westminster, Columbia College, and Millikan) and I babysat, and Sunday I became my grandpa’s work buddy for the day. It honestly was really fun hanging out with him. We went over to our property in Illinois and did chores. We cut the grass, put grass seed down, and put together 3 deer stands. We also illegally spread corn in the woods to attract the deer because deer season is coming up. While we live in Chesterfield, as soon as we hit Coulterville, IL, we almost like flip a switch and become these real country people. We know almost everyone in the town (the population is only like 500 so I mean it’s tiny), we go out to eat and are considered the locals. It took a long time to get that title but now we have it. I get out there and start target practice, fishing, and driving the ATV. I’m a completely different person over there.

This week is gonna be exciting. Hopefully, I’ll hear back from the colleges I applied to and then Friday night is Senior Night. I don’t play a sport but because I manage the football team, I’m still included. It’s gonna be bitter sweet because I’m gonna miss high school but I can’t wait for the freedom that comes with college. Well freedom for some. We know my mom and we all know damn well my freedom isn’t gonna be like most. But, I have to give her credit. We had a pretty length conversation the other day about college and how it’s my world and my 4 years in life. She told me she understood and really plans to try and take a step back and let me have my college life. She knows it’s time for me to start “adulting” so she’ll step back. I know she will. And Durham if she doesn’t, I’m sending her to you again πŸ˜‰
